Did you know that…..

1. Approximately 2 million children in Uganda have been orphaned by civil war and the AIDS epidemic.
2. 15 million children have lost one or both parents to AIDS- more than 12 million are in sub- Saharan Africa.
3. Half of the population of Uganda is under the age of 12.
4. 8,000 people die everyday because of AIDS-related illnesses – more than 6,000 of those live in Africa.
5. AIDS is now the biggest single cause of death among children under the age of five in Uganda.

Dear Friend,

Thanks for taking the time to read this letter.  It’s important to me.  When I see the suffering people of Africa, I see in their little faces, my own face as a child and recall what it was like to growing up without some of the things other kids took for granted and to feel so invisible.  It’s always been a dream of mine to help the children of Africa in some significant and tangible way, and now I can; in fact, WE can.

Oasis Christian Center, my church, has partnered with the Watoto Ministries to fight the devastating impact of AIDS and poverty on the people of Uganda.  The goal of Watoto is to raise Uganda’s future leaders.  Watoto is healing Uganda wear it hurts. This Christmas, Oasis Christian Center will bring Christmas presents to over 2,000 orphaned children and will be sending a team of volunteers in December to organize the celebration of Christmas for all 2,000 orphans.  In addition, the Oasis Christian Center will support the Watoto Ministries with all the monies needed for the construction of a much needed classroom for the children.
